5 easy yet effective eye-exercises to keep your eyes healthy happy

Exercise is crucial, be it going to a gym for physical exercise or solving puzzles to increase mental speed and thought processes. Similarly, our eyes also need exercise to maintain proper functioning.

You must have noticed that a lot of times your vision gets a bit blurry or there is redness in your eyes when you sit in front of your computer or TV for a long period. It is so because your eye muscles get weak due to overuse. Eye exercises will help relax your muscles and reduce the blurriness.

Now, let’s get straight to the eye exercises for healthier and fresher eyes:

Put Your Palm On Your Eyes & Feel Relaxed

This is the easiest and most relaxing of all exercises. In the digital-driven world, this exercise helps your eyes relax when you feel tired.

All you need to do is start by cupping your hands over your closed eyes and just sit still for 30 to 40 seconds. It often serves as a reset button for your vision and freshens your eyes.

Blink Blink Blink to Refresh Your Eyes

If you think how blinking can be an exercise as you do it all the time, but you might have missed noticing that we tend to blink less when we are sitting in front of the TV or laptop and concentrating on it.

Though there’s not much to explain about this exercise, all you have to do is sit comfortably with your eyes open. Blink 10-15 times very quickly. Close your eyes and relax for 20 seconds. Repeat this 4-5 times. This will make your eyes feel refreshed!

The Basic Eye Roll

The exercise is exactly what you think it is( yes, we are not even kidding). To perform this exercise, you need to sit up straight with your head still, slowly roll your eyes up and down - clockwise and anti-clockwise. Do this in a clockwise motion for 10 repetitions, and then anticlockwise for 10. Let’s start rolling our eyes for all the good reasons!

The Eye Press, Simple Yet Effective

This exercise is one of the most effective and refreshing eye exercises. To perform this eye exercise, all you need to do is - close your eyes and inhale deeply, put all your fingers on your eyelids and press lightly. Use a bit of gentle pressure on your eyes. Hold them for about 10 seconds.

Slowly let go of your eyes, please remember not to open your eyes suddenly. Keep them open for a couple of seconds as your vision comes back into focus. You can also blink for a couple of times to help reorient your eyes. Try to do this 10 times for maximum eye relief.

20-20-20 rule

Eye strain is often caused due to constantly being glued to T.V or laptop for a long period of time at a stretch. To reduce eye strain, you should perform the 20-20-20 rule, it's simple and effective. All you need to do is every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and focus your eyes on something at least 20 feet away.

Hope these exercises help you relax your eyes!
